Energy Partners secures up to 42 million euros for photovoltaic and energy storage projects at industrial and commercial sites

Traunstein, 28.09.2026

Energy Partners GmbH has entered into a portfolio framework financing agreement with Kommunalkredit worth 22 million euros. The agreement, signed at the end of July 2026, is intended to finance photovoltaic systems and battery storage facilities at around 20 industrial and commercial sites in Germany. In the first phase, the portfolio comprises projects totalling more than 40 megawatts. Energy Partners aims to use this to supply companies at their sites with locally generated solar power, whilst also enabling them to manage their own consumption more flexibly.

Kommunalkredit is the sole financier of the portfolio. In addition to the initial financing volume of around 22 million euros, the agreement provides for an extension option of up to 20 million euros for a further 40 MWp. This will enable Energy Partners to include further suitable plants within the same financing framework in future. The standardised structure is intended to speed up the financing and implementation of the individual projects.

Energy Partners develops, builds and operates photovoltaic systems at industrial and commercial sites. When combined with battery storage systems, this creates a flexible energy infrastructure that better aligns on-site generation with consumption. Battery storage systems located behind the meter, known as ‘behind-the-meter’ storage, store surplus solar power and make it available again when needed. This increases the proportion of electricity used directly on site, whilst making the energy supply more flexible.

EP-Sherpa, Energy Partners’ energy management system, plays a central role in this. It connects photovoltaic systems and battery storage units and coordinates generation, storage and consumption. This makes it possible to optimise energy flows, reduce peak loads and utilise existing grid connection capacity more efficiently. The result is an integrated infrastructure for the generation, storage and demand-driven use of energy.

“The portfolio framework financing enables us to finance individual plants in a standardised manner and within a short timeframe, rather than structuring each project individually. We pass this speed on directly to our customers – in the form of a predictable, cost-effective and CO₂-optimised electricity supply. The option to extend the framework by up to 20 million euros shows that this framework grows with us,” said Michael Gröger, Commercial Director of Energy Partners GmbH.

Matthias Giller, Managing Director of Energy Partners GmbH, adds: “With this step, we have not only laid the financial foundations for our continued growth, but also have the necessary project pipeline to deploy the funds swiftly. Our aim is to draw down the full amount of the financing by autumn 2027 and thereby consistently drive forward the expansion of a competitive, decentralised energy supply for German industry.”

Long-term electricity supply contracts with businesses

Energy Partners leases suitable roof space and battery storage areas and holds the installations in its own portfolio via project companies. MaxSolar GmbH is the parent company of Energy Partners and acts as a partner for the construction, maintenance and servicing of the installations. The electricity generated is predominantly supplied to the companies or commercial tenants at the respective site via long-term on-site power purchase agreements, or PPAs for short. Under this model, customers purchase the solar power directly from the plant on or adjacent to their premises. Surplus electricity can be fed into the electricity market via direct marketing.

“Decentralised energy supply directly to industrial and commercial sites is a key component of the energy transition in Germany. With our framework financing, we are laying the foundations for the efficient implementation and expansion of a portfolio comprising photovoltaic systems and battery storage facilities. In doing so, we are supporting Energy Partners in establishing a long-term, sustainable and competitive energy supply for businesses in Germany,” says Kaan Y. Ciftci, Senior Transactor at Kommunalkredit.

Further locations are set to follow

The first projects have already been completed, and others are already underway. These include a project at the Rheinmetall site in Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia, which has been under construction since early 2026. Further sites are set to follow in due course.

With the help of the agreed expansion option, Energy Partners can include additional suitable photovoltaic and energy storage projects within the financing framework. The company aims to use this to further expand its business with industrial and commercial customers in Germany. For customers, the model is intended to enable a long-term, predictable electricity supply from on-site installations. Battery storage and energy management help to better align generation with operational load profiles.
